Content Management

Simply put, a content management system enables non-technical editors to manage the content of a website, intranet or application. A good CMS goes beyond this basic definition and:

  • provides a streamlined, easy to understand way of creating and editing content
  • models the underlying business information (e.g. events should have a start date, end date, venue, price, etc)
  • allows editors to work in draft mode before publishing to the live website
  • provides flexible security and permissions model so that users have access to only the areas they need to
  • provides time saving features, e.g. automatically scales images ready for use on the web page.

Our CMS frameworks provide all of the above and more.

We can help you decide the best solution for your organisation, whether this is a commercial package, open source, or our own Ecco CMS solution. To do this we will analyse your processes and requirements.

For example, how much control should your content editors have over the presentation of their content? Do you need versioning, locking and deployment, or an approval workflow? Is there a need for work areas, staging and live environments?
