Web Applications

Example web applicationToday, the web is the platform of choice for delivering applications that enable users to work, collaborate and communicate with each other.

Web applications provide many benefits over traditional software applications:

  • the web user interface is universally understood by users
  • there is no software for the user to install
  • updates to the application are simple to rollout
  • collaboration and communication between users is seamless.

When designing and building a web application the disciplines required are similar to those of a website, but with some additional considerations:

  • Usually there is a smaller set of users who will use your application more frequently than they would your website—this familiarity gives us the opportunity to design a more functional experience, better tailored to their needs. For example, time saving features can be built into the application for advanced users, like keyboard shortcuts.
  • While aesthetics are still important, less time needs to be spent on the look & feel of the web application, compared with a website.
  • Often the functionality delivered by the application places a heavier load on the web server, so a good technical architecture is key.

At Bright Interactive we have almost a decade of experience delivering web applications, and we know the challenges involved in delivering effective, functional and high-performance software, whether to a small set of users, or many thousands. We can bring this technical expertise to your next project.
